Trump Links Oil Prices to Potential End of Russia-Ukraine War
Former President Donald TRUMP posits that declining oil prices could hasten the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict by crippling Moscow's war revenue. He highlighted untapped reserves in the North Sea as a lever to undermine Russia's energy dominance.
Trump has already escalated tariffs on Indian imports of Russian oil, accusing New Delhi of profiteering. "They turn a blind eye to the atrocities in Ukraine," he declared on Truth Social, signaling a hardline stance against third-party enablers of Russian crude sales.
During discussions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, both leaders concurred on Europe's need to sever Russian oil purchases and tighten sanctions. Trump ruled out ceasefire appeals to Putin, reserving the right for "overwhelming retaliatory measures" if warranted.
